'Hands-on' workshops are a practical introduction to the heritage and the craft, of building walls using natural stone without mortar and carried on over centuries. In addition, you also receive an extensive discussion overview, packed with 'How to' tips and information regarding the construction of other dry stone walling features:-
You will be shown an example and how to construct a Gabion and their use as retaining walls, raised flower beds, with/without Gabions, stone/timber seating, Squeeze stile and further garden features if, time allows !!
At the end of the workshops you will :- be able to safely and confidently construct a Gabion feature, set out and construct a dry stone wall or other basic feature - understand DSW heritage and terminology used - distinguish various stone shapes, material and it's uses -
We provide free for the workshop:- all materials, equipment, tools, eye protection, gloves, personal facilities, extensive selection of descriptive handouts/brochures and 'Certificates of Achievement' Ensure you wear suitable loose fitting outdoor clothing and stout, safety footwear, bring packed lunches and drinks as requird.
All our trainers are certificated by the Dry Stone Walling Association.
